Earlier this month, Wits University conferred an honorary doctorate in Science on Ambassador Abdul Minty, a key figure in South Africa’s nuclear disarmament programme. During his acceptance speech, Minty painted a picture of what it took for the world to admit that South Africa had destructive nuclear weapons and how the country transitioned to peaceful nuclear energy.
